Independence
Staying independent as long as possible is a goal for most people. As individuals age, sometimes remaining at home becomes more difficult. For some individuals, the loss of independence is due to an accident or illness, making certain activities difficult without assistance. Often assistance provided to a loved one is given informally by family members or friends. This can be a rewarding experience, but can often times be physically, emotionally and financially challenging.
